Today, I turned 22. At my birthday party my mom told some of my friends that as I was being born I almost died in the birth canal. All of my friends started talking about how different their lives would be without me and how there are so many things they would never have had the guts to do if it hadn’t been for me. Today, after being laid off last month, I’m struggling to find a new job and struggling with the possibility of having to move 3000 miles away to find one. I’m completely lost when it comes to reestablishing my footing in corporate America. But through it all my wife has been so supportive. And as lost as I feel in my professional life right now, I’ve never been happier in my personal life. MMT

Today, a school bus stopped in front of me at a crosswalk and a little kid was waving at me frantically. I laughed and waved back. There was a look of surprise and then extreme happiness on the kid's face that someone waved back to him. The way children appreciate the small things in life MMT.

Today, I was walking home from work in the pouring rain without an umbrella. I was walking just behind an elderly man who had an umbrella. Pass it along someday when the opportunity arises.” MMT
