Today, it’s been a month since my wife spotted an injured stray cat on the side of the road that had been hit by a car. We pulled over, picked it up, and brought it to the animal hospital we take our dog to. The hospital admitted the cat and said they’d care for it free of charge. This morning we got a call that the cat was back on its feet, as sweet as can be, and looking for a permanent home. Right now he’s curled up on my lap. MMT

Today, my grandma is living with stage 4 lung cancer and she just found out this morning that her tumors are somehow shrinking! The doctors have readjusted her life expectancy, and now she will likely be able to come to my wedding. MMT

Today, as usual, my bus driver said good morning to every student who got on her bus. Even though most kids don't respond, she persists. I’m usually one of them those kids. But this morning I was having a rough time due to some family issues at home, and as I was waiting at the bus stop with light tears in my eyes, I realized that my bus driver’s “good morning” greeting was something I was really looking forward to. So when she said it to me, I gave her a hug and finally said, “Thank you!” MMT

Today, it’s been almost seven years since my sister Sara, and her husband Jason, have been trying to conceive a baby. They have had 8 miscarriages due to a problem with my sister’s reproductive organs. I volunteered as their surrogate a couple months ago. And today I found out I'm carrying their identical twins. I have never seen two people so in love and so happy. And that makes me happy, and MMT

Today, a young Marine and his wife came into our diner next to the airport. He was still in his military uniform, and looked as though he had just gotten off a plane from somewhere overseas, because he still had his bag with him. They sat crying and smiling together. During the meal, an elderly gentlemen snuck up to the counter and quietly paid for the meal. The whole situation made me smile and MMT.

Today, my best friend got into a car accident that left her with a concussion. For a short time she couldn't remember anything that had happened before waking up in the hospital bed, she didn't even know who her own mother was. But when I walked into her hospital room, she looked up at me and said, "Megan, thank you for coming to see me." That was the first smile I haven't faked in a long time. MMT

Today, I went to the store with my grandmother today. She asked me which candy bar I liked. I said, Snickers,” and the cashier smiled and said, “Oh, I agree. Snickers is the best.” My grandmother then picked up two Snickers bars, purchased them, and handed one to me and the other to the cashier, and said, “Have a great day.” The cashier smiled the biggest smile her little cheeks would allow. Today, it’s been about a year that I’ve been struggling with depression. Combine this with the fact that I’m a bit of an introvert, and, as you can image, I have been spending quite a bit of time alone. One of my favorite things to do when I’m alone is listen to music and dance (even though I would never do so in front of others). This afternoon, my older sister and her friend walked in on me dancing. But before I had a chance to be embarrassed, they started dancing too, and didn’t stop even when I did. Instead of being an awkward experience, they made me feel so comfortable that I started dancing again, and we finished dancing to the song together. MMT

Today, my daughter celebrated a full year working fulltime as an assistant chef at a local cafe. She is a high functioning autistic, and I was once told by doctors and therapists that she would never be a normal member of society. I am sooooo proud of her. She MMT.

Today, I feel like I’ve only just met you. I've known you for only six months, only dated you for three months. And yet here I am, eagerly waiting for your phone call like my life depends on whatever you have to say. How did you do this so quickly? MMT

Today, I met one of my dad's friend's son. He's around my age, and he's cute. I didn't know he was coming over, so when we met, I had no makeup on, my hair was a mess, and I was wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt. But he still looked at me like I was special. I know it's stupid and he was just being nice, but every girl likes to think they're different, and he really made me feel like I was. MMT

Today, these two big gangster looking guys were hanging out at the bar of the restaurant where I was eating. They didn't see me sitting tucked away in the booth adjacent to them. I overheard them discussing the fact that “nothing is more sexy than a woman's confidence” and “how great inner-beauty is.” They went on and on about it for almost an hour. It was unexpected and it made me smile and MMT.

Today, at a college party I started talking to a mildly autistic boy. We got into a deep conversation and he said how he was sad that most people never talk to him, and he worries about never having friends, marrying, or having his own family someday. We ended up having a few drinks together and dancing and chatting the entire night away. It was the most fun I’ve had with a guy in a long time. I have his number, and I intend to call him this weekend. MMT

Today, about an hour after I was ruthlessly insulted by a bully, and about 10 minutes after I spent my lunch period in the restroom crying and feeling completely disgusted with my body, the quiet kid from my Algebra class, who I have a crush on, asked me to be his date to the homecoming dance. MMT

Today, I was ringing up an older woman at the checkout counter where I work. She kept giving me funny looks and it was making me uncomfortable. Finally, I asked her if there was something wrong, her face turned bright red, and she responded by stuttering, "No, no… you're just so pretty." It was one of the most sincere compliments I have received in a long time. MMT

Today, as I watched him prepare to go out to celebrate his 18th birthday with his girlfriend, I remembered that night when he was born early at only one pound and six ounces. Somehow, even in that moment when doctors thought he wouldn’t, I knew my son would live. MMT

Today I needed some help with my life. Nothing has been going well, I'm in a bad spot and I was recently let go from my job, and I've had no success finding a job or making ends meet. I decided to go to my place of worship for the first time in years for some kind of help, or the feeling that I was doing something right. As random as it sounds, on the way home I stopped to pick up groceries and I bumped into an old neighbor I hadn’t seen in years. After a bit of small talk, he offered me a job at his company. MMT

Today, we celebrated one full year together. And one year later, I still haven't told you that dinner with you on our first date was a major step to recovering from anorexia. MMT

Today, although we are unemployed we gave the money that we had saved for holiday gifts for each other towards vets bills to save an abandoned and abused five month old pup, and give her a loving home with us. Our gift this Christmas for us is going to be all about her life, and to see her heal, grow, and fell loved. MMT

Today, I walked outside and saw a parking ticket on my windshield. I'm 24 and support myself, and was recently laid off from my full-time job. I walked up to my car to see it was a photocopy of a ticket, with a dollar bill and a note inside that read, "Now you can be sure today is a good day. :)" MMT
