Today, one of my past employees ,who left our company almost ten years ago and started a very successful consulting business, sent me an email out of the blue. One part of the email reads: "This may sound strange to you, but I wanted to thank you. You were the only one who encouraged me to follow my dreams and my instincts about my business idea. I owe a great deal of my initial success to the short doses of encouragement you gave me on our lunch breaks." MMT

Today, I helped my dad celebrate his high school graduation at the age of 68. He went back and took the necessary classes simply to fulfill a promise he made to himself sometime before he started his multi-million dollar construction business 40 years ago. MMT

Today, as we waited for the cops, and as I sat there berating myself over rear ending the car in front of me, the driver of the car put a hand on my shoulder and said, “Let it go. Don’t refuse to be human; that’s what you are. And humans make mistakes sometimes.” MMT

Today, my 3-year-old daughter was standing at the edge of a fountain in the mall, when she fell in. Before I could react, a random teenage girl standing next to us jumped into the fountain, with her dress and shoes on, to help my daughter. MMT

Today, it’s been exactly 6 months since my sister and I were a passengers in my friend’s car when a pick-up truck ran a stop sign and changed our lives forever. My friend didn’t make it. My sister and I were in critical condition for nearly a month, but we both survived without any major debilitating injuries. We took our first steps since the accident, together, two months ago, and our first unassisted steps, together, today. We are each other’s guardian angels, and I am so grateful that both of us were afforded this second chance at life. MMT

Today was my little sister’s 14th birthday. She has Down Syndrome and doesn’t have many friends. My boyfriend picked me up for dinner with flowers, but said they weren't for me. He came inside and handed them to my sister. She was so excited. He then took us both out to dinner to celebrate. MMT

Today, on my first day back at college after breaking my leg and being forced to use a wheelchair, I was stuck in the snow on crutches waiting for an elevator (that seemed to be broken) so I could get to my Science class. Two students who I’ve never met before stopped to help me get up the stairs – they basically carried me. Their random act of kindness MMT.

Today, I was driving to work when I witnessed a terrible car accident. A truck and a small car collided after the truck slipped on black ice. A male nurse wearing nursing scrubs from a random car right in front of me me jumped out and began to help the lady in the small car which was now sitting hood first in a ditch on the side of the freeway. He carried the woman up onto the side of the freeway about a minute before the car burst into flames. MMT

Today, one of my classmates looked pretty upset again. She has looked that way for the last few days. I stopped her after school and said, "I haven't seen you smile once this week. Are you OK?" She immediately smiled, and she told me about some problems her parents were going through. We ended our 20 minute conversation with a hug, and then she said, “Thank you. Thank you. I mean it. Thank you.” MMT

Today, my grandmother passed away. It was really hard on my entire family. She was the glue that kept our family together through many hard times over the last decade. One of my close friends from college showed up at her ceremony. She paid her respects like everyone else, and gave me a huge hug before she left – a sincere hug that helped calm me inside. The interesting thing is, she never met my grandmother before, but she said she came today because, in her words, “Your grandmother is important to you, and you are important to me.” MMT

Today, it’s been nearly six months since my home computer crashed. My mom and dad know I need one for school, but they just don’t have the money. They’ve both been desperately struggling with work – both have been laid off from work for several months at a time in the past year. I was making due without the computer, but my schooling was getting rough without it. This afternoon, my English teacher asked me to stay after class. She gave me her old laptop that’s still in perfect working order. Teachers who pay attention and care MMT.

Today, I handed a new employee an annual bonus check the accounting department accidentally cut him even though he’s only been with the company for a month. The CEO of our small company was gracious and told him to keep it. The employee was confused, but extremely grateful. I asked him what he planned to do with it and he said, “Maybe I’ll buy a homeless man a dinner or something.” Seven hours later I walked out of the office just time to witness him handing out three bags of subway sandwiches to the three homeless men who always sit under the overhang on the side of our office building. Today, my friends and I were at McDonalds when a homeless man walked in. The manager was trying to kick him out because he didn’t have enough change to buy anything. Then in the middle of the commotion, a teenage girl walked up to him and said, “I was going to get happy meal, but you can have it. I have a bagged lunch too.” and gave him her money. MMT

Tonight, I was eating at a diner that celebrates birthdays by giving every patron a free slice of chocolate cake on their birthday. Almost Every single person in the diner was cheering on a young girl as she tried to blow out her seven candles. She was hooked up to an oxygen tank, but insisted on blowing them out herself, and got the job done with the biggest smile on her face. MMT

Today, after school one of the special needs freshmen at my high school fell down in a mud puddle in the front of the school. She was crying and a few rude kids were standing nearby pointing and laughing. I was on my way over to help her when the tallest kid at the school - the center on our basketball team - walked over into the puddle, helped the girl up, and then kicked some muddy water at the rude kids as they tried to walk away. Today, after my father finally lost his long battle with cancer, his doctor gave me the news and gave me a tight hug that lasted nearly 30 seconds straight. It was unexpected, but actually helped calm me in a way that I can’t express with words. Thank you Dr. Denim, you MMT.

Today, I got a phone call from my daughter's kindergarten teacher. She asked me why I wasn’t providing lunch for my daughter over the past few days. Confused, I hung up the phone and asked my daughter what she was doing with her lunches. She said, "Katie’s mom is in the hospital and hasn’t been able to make any meals for the last week, so I gave a few of my lunches to her.” MMT
