Today, my dad gave two slices of pizza to our maid - a less affluent, but wonderful Mexican lady. She wrapped the slices up in a handkerchief and said, “Oh, my son’s don’t get pizza very often. I’m going to take it home to them.” So my dad ordered two more full pizzas just for her to take home to her family. MMT

Today, in Reykjavík, Iceland where I own a tourist information and guide business, I looked out the front window of our office and noticed that a homeless man who usually hangs around nearby was wearing my employee’s hat and jacket. When I asked my employee if the items had been stolen, he said, “No. I gave them to someone who did not have a hat and jacket. I have several more of each at home.” MMT

Today, my younger sister who always wears makeup (too much I think), showed up to the house after school without any makeup on. When I asked her why, she said, “This morning Kayla (our youngest sibling) said she wanted to put on makeup to be beautiful like me. I don’t want her thinking that she has to wear makeup to be beautiful, so I’m gonna start wearing less of it.” MMT

Today I learned about MMT and I cried as I read the stories. I have been depressed for a while now and often consider suicide. No one knows how bad things really are. The stories here inspired me to do something good for a stranger today. I'm honestly feeling better than I have in awhile, and tomorrow I will help someone else. This could be the therapy I needed. Today, my order at a local deli was messed up, and as the deli chef prepared a new sandwich for me, we had a pleasant conversation about business and funny customer issues. When he handed me my new sandwich, I handed him my cash. He refused it. “Listen, I messed your order up and you still said, ‘please and thank you’ and you were far more cordial than most of the people I interact with all day. Your meal is on me.” MMT

Today, I was walking past four homeless men who sleep near my apartment building. A limo pulled up next to the men and the driver opened up the rear door and someone inside handed him four bags full of groceries. The driver then walked over to the homeless men and handed each one of them a bag and said, “Eat well friends,” and then got in the limo and drove off. MMT

Today, my grandparents live on the 27th story of a condominium complex. They have lived there for six months. This evening I found out that my grandfather is scared of heights – something he had never mentioned to me before. After he admitted this to me I naturally asked, “Well why do you live on the 27h floor?” He stood up and walked a couple feet away from his floor to ceiling family room window. “Do you see how close I am to the window?” he asked. “I have been scared of heights my whole life. Six months ago I couldn’t step closer than 8 feet from this window without panicking. I promised myself I wouldn’t die with this silly fear inside me, and I’m happy to tell you I’m 75% of the way there.” MMT

Today, after a long week of frustration, I began to question whether I was in the right line of work. Just then one of my special education students came up to me and gave me a big hug. When I asked, "What was that for?" she smiled and said, "Just because I think you’re the greatest teacher in the world." And just like that, she reminded me that the stress is worth it. MMT

Today, I was in a really bad mood when a young man came into the physical therapy clinic where I work sporting one of the most stunning, genuine smiles I’ve seen all week.
