Today, nearly a full year since my mom passed away, I went through a box of her personal effects she had with her at the hospital during her final days. The first thing that caught my attention was her journal, I opened to the final entry and read, “Life is meant to be lived and I lived it. I took risks. I have felt passion. I have discovered love many times. I feel free, blessed and at peace.” MMT

Today, as my grandmother and I were getting on to the city bus after grocery shopping, I was struggling to carry all the groceries while simultaneously helping my grandmother maintain her balance. A woman sitting at the front of the bus got up, walked over to us, grabbed my grandmother’s hand and one of the bags that was slipping out of my hand and helped us get to our seats. Her kind gesture MMT.

Today I learned about MMT and I cried as I read the stories. I have been depressed for a while now and often consider suicide. No one knows how bad things really are. The stories here inspired me to do something good for a stranger today. I'm honestly feeling better than I have in awhile, and tomorrow I will help someone else. This could be the therapy I needed.
