Today, nearly my entire homeroom class got after-school detention. Why? We were discussing gay marriage/rights and our teacher was being so disrespectful which made our class get into a full-blown argument with her. My fellow classmate’s acceptance and the fact that so many stood by their convictions despite the unwarranted consequences MMT.

Today, at the convenience store where I work, I served a middle-aged man with Down’s Syndrome. It turned out that he had miscounted his change and didn't have enough to buy the magazine and candy bar he wanted, but before I could say anything to him, the teenager behind him pulled out a $5 bill and said "Don't worry, I got it." Today, I work at a gas station. A regular customer who’s blind came in. He keeps the bills in his wallet folded into shapes based on the size of the bill. But today one of them was folded incorrectly. When he handed me money for his two dollar drink, he handed me a $100 bill. I immediately told him and his response was, "Oh, wow! Thank you. Thank you for being so honest." Then he had me split the bill and told me to “keep the change.” MMT

Today marks the end of a really tough week for me, and my friends and family were all too busy to notice. One teacher held me back to see if I was OK, and I told her I was. I regretted lying to her afterwards, and swore to myself if she asked me again, I would tell her everything. I randomly bumped into her again this afternoon after school, and she asked again. We went back to her room and talked for almost two hours, and I feel a lot better. MMT

Today as I was waiting for a bus, I watched as a homeless man was walking across the street after having just bought a small meal from a street vendor with the change he had saved up. A driver who wasn’t looking almost hit him, causing the man to drop his food all over the ground. The car ran over the food as it sped away. Two nearby strangers pitched in and bought the man another meal from the same street vendor. MMT

Today, I went to visit my best friend in the hospital who is fighting leukemia. I found him entertaining some younger children in the hospital by teaching them the first few moves of the Thriller dance. My best friend has become so weak from the cancer that he can barely stand at times, but he built up the stamina to do this, and had a group of kids smiling ear to ear. MMT

Today, there's a kid in my English class with scars all the way up his forearms. During class this afternoon him and I were talking about tattoos when he pulled up his sleeve to show me the tattoo above his highest cut. It was a smiley face and two arrows, one arrow pointing at his cuts and the other at the smiley face. The arrow pointing to the cuts had a caption that read: “That was then.” The arrow pointing to the smiley face had a caption that read: “This is now!” MMT

Today, there was an elderly woman in the grocery line in front of me who was struggling with getting her items onto the checkout counter. I stepped in and finished unloading her grocery cart for her. She was so thankful, and had the biggest smile on her face. Then she told the cashier that she was paying for my groceries too. I tried to refuse, but she insisted. MMT

Today, before sunrise, I was robbed and shot in the leg in a bad part of town. I waved to the only passing car on the street for help; a young girl was driving. She looked terrified and said she didn’t have a phone and then sped away. Less than five minutes later she came back, followed by several police and an ambulance. MMT

Today, my fiancé and I were at Disneyworld in Orlando eating lunch. The waiter came up to us and asked my fiancé, “Are you an airman?” He said, “yes.” The waiter then told us, “A man in the restaurant, who asked to remain anonymous, just wanted to confirm before he paid for our meals for honoring our country.” And just like that our lunch was taken care of. Today, it’s been about six months since my friend and I started a Facebook group against bullying. Since then, 1627 students and faculty from our high school have joined and are apologizing or sharing their stories. And at least ten kids have come up to me and thanked me personally. It seems like we’re finally coming together, and it MMT.

Today, I finally managed to get out of a physically and emotionally abusive 3-year relationship. I felt so accomplished that, as I was packing some of my things in my car, I started grinning and crying proudly with tears of joy in my eyes. An elderly woman stopped me and said, "Congratulations honey. I don’t know what you’re celebrating, but your smile is beautiful. You look like you just won a long race." MMT

Today, as I got off my plane for my layover in Atlanta, I realized that everyone in the airport was standing still, clapping and cheering for someone I couldn't see. When I got closer I saw a unit of soldiers walking off the plane. Half couldn't even look at the cheering crowd because of the tears in their eyes. MMT

Today, my English teacher returned to school after suffering from a miscarriage last week. When she was gone, our class of about 40 students raised nearly 400 dollars in one day to buy flowers and gifts for her, to make her feel better. And when we gave the gifts to her, her smile MMT.

Today, I was stuck on the side of the road 75 miles from my home with my flashers on, with no phone. At least 200 cars had passed without stopping. Finally a beat up grey Chevy truck stopped behind me; the driver was an off-duty mechanic. He spent almost a full hour working on my car, even using some spare parts he had in the bed of his truck, fixed my vehicle, and simply drove off without expecting any compensation. Heroes like him MMT.

Today, it’s been about six months since I was clinically diagnosed with depression. Although I've gotten treatment and therapy, it still creeps up on me even on happy days. Whenever I tweet something slightly sad, one of my best guy friends always texts me right away saying how beautiful and strong I am and how important I am to him. His constant love and support MMT.

Today, while my mom and I were waiting in the line at the grocery store bakery, my mom was talking to the people behind the bakery counter about how she has three children as a single parent, and works two jobs, but still feels completely blessed. We went to the checkout line a few minutes later, and a random man dressed in a business suit approached us. He insisted on paying for our groceries, saying it was a late Mother’s Day gift. MMT

Today, it’s been exactly 15 years since I had just a few bucks to my name and could not buy my daughter pens and paper for school. A local charity bought her school supplies and clothes. Now my daughter has graduated from Yale, started a successful business, and I work for her. And I am donating money to that same charity to pay the kindness forward. MMT

Today, money is really tight for my family. I’ve been out of work for about six months now, and barely making ends meet. But tonight we went out to a local restaurant to celebrate my son’s 10th birthday. To save on cost, we decided to get two meals and split them between the four of us. But somehow the owner picked up on our situation and the reason we only ordered two meals instead of four, so she brought out two more plates of food free of charge. Her generosity MMT.

Today, it’s been 17 years since a little boy was born in Southern California with a brain hemorrhage and mild right sided Cerebal Palsy. The parents of that boy were told that his vital organs where too small for him to live past one year of age. But 17 years later here I am; I have scars down my chest and am currently awaiting another operation. I’m alive and breathing. My parent’s determination to give me a chance always MMT.
