Today, I heard a very successful lawyer speak with a stutter, and no one remarked on it, or even cared. After, I walked up to him and said, "You d-d-do it t-t-too, and it, and it, hasn't effected your c-c-career at all!" And he turned to me, shook my hand and said, "W-w-what the w-w-words mean is more imp-p-portant than how they sound." I've spent my entire life, since the age of 10 living in fear of my own voice, but his courage MMT.

Today, my mom and dad are happily married with three kids. They were separated prematurely as teenagers by my mom’s step-father, and it took them 10 years, a lot of heartache, and one failed marriage each to find each other again and be happy. MMT

Today, as my mom and I were talking about how money was tight, and discussing ideas on how to come up with my first semester college tuition fee, my 7 year older brother walked into the room and offered me his piggy bank. MMT

Today, I was able to pay for much needed dental work. I had recently exhausted every bit of extra cash I had and was still short. Last night my best friend found out I couldn't pay for it and knew how much pain I was in. She handed me the cash I needed to cover the rest of the bill without hesitation, and hugged me while I sobbed. She is struggling to make ends meet as well, but insisted that it was the best possible way she could "invest her money." Her generosity and heart MMT.

Today, I dodged a turtle in the middle of the street on my way to work. While I began to slow down to put the turtle on the side of the road, the guy coming the other way had already stopped and gotten the turtle to safety. Such a small act of kindness to protect a defenseless creature MMT.

Today, at my Grandpa's memorial service this evening, my family and I suddenly heard loud engines revving as we were setting up before mourners arrived. We went outside the church to inspect and saw my Grandpa's car club (he was an avid car show attender) driving around the church with their old cars. It broke my heart and made my day at the same time. It was truly a MMT moment.

Today, after years of bullying, my younger brother finally stood up for himself and punched the bully who has been tormenting him for years. When I talked to the assistant principal, he said, "This might be the happiest detention I have ever had to give out." only because he was aware that my younger brother was getting constantly picked on (he tried to assist him several times in the past). My brother's courage to stand up for himself, and the assistant principal's understanding MMT.

Today, I was thinking to myself about my past. Just in the last two years I have recovered from cutting, suicide, depression, and an eating disorder. I was also failing every class I was enrolled in. Now, I am passing every class with at least an 80%, and in my free time I am training to go into the United States Army. I never thought I would make this progress. I promised myself I'd make a turnaround in my life. And the fact that I am starting to see the results makes me proud and MMT.

Today, my usually soft spoken grandma caught me off guard when she saw me upset about the bullying I endured at school again, and said, “Honey, never allow people who suck, to suck the joy out of your day!” MMT

Today, as I was sitting on the ledge of a cliff at a park, staring off into the distance and thinking, I turned around to see a girl almost in tears but trying to slowly walk down the ledge to where I was sitting. I got up and walked up to her and asked her what was wrong. She told me she was deathly afraid of heights, but wanted to get over her fear because I looked lonely sitting by myself, and she wanted to make sure I was okay. Her braveness and kindness MMT.

Today, my younger brother got into a fight at school. When I asked him why, he said the other kid was making fun of his friend, Will. Will has been friends with my brother ever since they were toddlers, and has autism. My brother's courage and loyalty to his friend MMT.

Today, my dad is working at a prison two hours away from our house. He stays in a small apartment with his father, and I see him about once a month. He is only doing this so he can pay rent for the house my family and I are living in so I can graduate high school with my class. I genuinely appreciate everything my father does for our family. MMT

Today, was the final of four concerts that were supporting a fundraiser to bring a choir of orphans from Swaziland, Africa to Sydney, Australia next year. These concerts involved 300+ people and were put together on two weeks notice. It was simply incredible to see how much could be accomplished on such a short notice when a few people with big hearts are 100% committed to a cause they believe in. MMT

Today, it’s been almost exactly two and a half years since I went through a rough time in my life, resulting in me almost dropping out of high school. Last night I found my first term report card from the year I almost dropped out – all of my marks were below 70, and some even below 50. Last month I was accepted to the university of my dreams and offered a $4000 scholarship due to my "excellent academic standing" over the past two years. How much I've changed my life makes me proud and MMT.

Today, the owner of the small motel I work at allows three local homeless men to share a room to sleep and shower in once a week on a random night when there is vacancy. MMT

Today, my college roommate led a team at Relay for Life in raising over $6500. She had chemotherapy 5 days ago, just as she does every other week. She has battled Lymphoma, but will be a survivor according to her doctors, and will graduate soon from the bachelor's of health and science program. She was also recently accepted into the graduate program to get her masters/doctorate in Physical therapy. Her strength and drive MMT.

Today, when I told my mother how much I miss him, she looked across the room at a photo of my late father sitting on the coffee table, smiled and said, “We have to accept the fact that some people are going to stay in our hearts, even if they don’t stay in our lives.” MMT

Today, while working at my afterschool program, one of my quiet kids had an accident. When she came back in different clothes and the other kids asked her why, she shamefully replied that she had had an accident. But instead of making fun of her, or telling her she was gross, one of the most popular students said, "That's ok, that happened to me one time too," and all the other kids standing around, who seemed to be on the verge of making fun of her, went about their business without saying a word. Today, a long conversation with a stranger who, on the surface, appeared to be different from me in many ways taught me this life lesson: What matters more than the processes or the paths that a person takes throughout their life, is their intentions. At their core, a person must strive to be 'good.' For me, that's through my faith; For him, it's through travel and meditation. He told me, "A good person is not a reflection of their past or future, rather of their every moment intentions and decisions." MMT

Today, I told my longtime best friend that I relapsed in my struggle with bulimia. After calmly explaining to me that he wants to help me recover, I attempted to tell him that I think it stems from my low self-esteem and obsession with perfection. Then, he looked at me and, with the most honest eyes said, "You already are perfect, just the way you are. My goal is to help you see this." His acceptance and compassion MMT.

Today, at our large Miami office, the full time janitor/maintenance guy’s old car broke down and he was late for work. When our CEO received a phone call from him and heard the news, he immediately called Hertz and rented him a car for 30 days to give him time to get his repaired. MMT

Today, I walked past my English teacher as I was walking into a room. He asked me how I was feeling (he caught on that I was depressed yesterday). I just shrugged and said, "I'm okay." To my surprise, as I began to walk away, he grabbed my hand and pulled me back, asking again. I was surprised; I still am. I'm going to thank him tomorrow, because just knowing he cares made me feel a hundred times better MMT.

Today, while sitting in the chair at the barber shop, I spoke to the barber about a kid in the community that had recently died. We talked about how precious life was, and someone of the great people he knew who had passed. He told me not to take my time for granted. In his words he said something like, "Son, you may have 75 years on your time card, or you may only have 10. Live em' the best you can. Choose to make your days into memories worth smiling about." His advice really MMT.

Today, I was about to miss my train. I had to borrow money to even pay for my ticket to get to work. I work and go to college full time and have had a rough few weeks, financially and otherwise. When I realized I didn't have enough money to pay for my ticket, a man who had asked me for spare change asked me how much I needed. I ignored the question as tears filled my eyes, because I couldn't bear to take anything from him. But the conductor overheard his question and told me he would take care of the fare this once. MMT
