Today, on the one year anniversary of my boyfriend’s death, I decided it was time to clear his clothes out of our closet. In one of his coat pockets I found a diamond engagement ring and concert tickets to my favorite band dated the Saturday after he passed. MMT

Today, I stuck my hand into my coat pocket and found a 5 dollar bill wrapped around a note. The note read, "You have just been reverse-pick-pocketed. Enjoy the 5 dollars, and know that it was forcibly received by your pocket. Take that, society!" MMT

Today, I walked for 2 hours through a bustling metropolitan area, passing thousands of people. I was wearing a "Free Hugs" t-shirt and I was only approached by one person for a free hug. MMT

Today, a man pulled up to the drive thru window and insisted on paying for the woman’s meal behind him. When I asked him why, he said, “I can see her in my review mirror and she’s crying. If I can put even the slightest smile on her face for a split second, I consider it money well spent.” MMT

Today, as I waited impatiently at a red light, the car in front of me was far behind the line so I honked and the driver thought I honked because the light turned green, so she let go of her brake and ran the red light... and got fatally slammed by a semi-truck. MMT

Today, I was downtown when I saw a homeless man ask a businesswoman to pick up a candy wrapper that she had purposely dropped. Confused, the businesswoman asked, "Why do you care? Aren’t you homeless?" The man smiled and replied, "I'm not homeless. This beautiful world is my home." MMT

Today, I got my math test results back. One of the answers was (2, infinity), and on the side I wrote, "And beyond!" My teacher put a smiley face next to my answer and actually gave me an extra credit point. Her sense of humor makes me smile and MMT.

Today, my 8-year-old daughter came home from school and asked me to find her a website that would help her learn sign language. When I asked her why, she said, “There’s a new girl at school who only speaks sign language, and she doesn’t have anyone to talk to.” MMT

Today at the bookstore I work for, a couple asked me to help them find a book off a list for their kid's book report. When I asked which one, the husband said to his unsure wife, "Let's just get him Alice in Wonderland. He's seen the movie already, so he won't even have to read it." MMT

Today, as I was quietly packing my lunch for work, my husband danced into the kitchen singing a made-up song consisting of only my name over and over. When he saw me, he blushed and said, "Oh, you're still here!" Sneaking a peak into the daily routine of someone who truly loves me makes me smile and MMT.

Today, our office janitor was promoted to executive assistant. The CEO’s rational: “Any man that can maintain his level of positivity while cleaning up after us all day every day is a man I need around me more often. I’m confident I can teach him the rest.” MMT

Today, as he sat there smiling at me, I wished I was prettier, so he would see me as more than just his best friend. MMT

Today, I am sitting alone in the cafeteria again and wondering where all the other shy and lonely kids are. If you’re out there and you see me, please join me. MMT

Today I woke up, looked at myself in the mirror, and felt disgusted with my looks. But 30 minutes later, as I was getting on the bus, the bus driver looked at me and said, “Great to see a beautiful lady on this beautiful morning.” I’ve been smiling ever since. MMT

Today, my best friend of 6 years was put in the hospital for attempting suicide. She's always listened to my stupid, petty problems and asked me how I was feeling. But I never ever asked her how she was feeling because she always seemed so happy. MMT

Today I was at the mall with friend and I noticed that she kept on dropping quarters in random places. When I asked her why she was doing this she simply said, "I love seeing the reactions of people who find a quarter on the ground. They're always so happy." My friends kindness MMT.

Today, my friend and I discovered that one parking ticket dispenser on campus gives $1 tickets for a nickel. We put $5 in nickels into the machine and spent 2 hours passing out tickets for free. Some people were so jaded that they believed our tickets were fake and refused our offer. MMT

Today, my boyfriend fell asleep in my arms, snoring just a little. It's crazy how happy it made me to hear him snore, sleeping peacefully. The room was all quiet, and there we lay. Him, snoring, and I, realizing just how much I love him. And that I’d rather be nowhere else. MMT

Today, one of my 11th grade students committed suicide. He always seemed so happy. I've spent the entire evening in bed, simply staring at the ceiling and wondering how I missed the signs. MMT

Today, I make more money serving alcohol to drunks than my brother does teaching high school math and science skills to our youth. MMT

Today, I was complaining to my little brother about the weather. I told him that I wished it was always summertime. He laughed and said, "No you don't. The reason you like summer so much is because it's NOT always summer." MMT

Today, as I stared down blankly at the $750,000 life insurance check, I couldn’t help but wish it had been me instead. MMT

Today, I sat in class with my head down for most of the period. My teacher asked me to stay behind. I thought I was in trouble for not paying attention. Instead he said, “If you ever need someone to talk to, you know where to find me.” I intend to take him up on his offer tomorrow. MMT

Today, I went to the wake of a teacher of mine who just passed away. When I introduced myself to her son, he smiled and said, "It's nice to finally meet you. My mom actually mentioned your name quite often. You challenged her, and she liked that." I had no idea she cared. MMT

Today, I’m the girl my friends go to for advice and a shoulder to lean on. Someday I hope one of them looks beyond my phony smile and asks me if I’m okay. MMT

Today, I’m pretty sure the autistic boy I tutor after school taught me more with his honest smile and uninhibited enthusiasm than I taught him with my formal lesson plan. MMT

Today I parked my car and put quarters in the meter. As I walked past the car behind me I noticed their meter was expired so I put some quarters in theirs too. My meeting lasted longer than I had expected. I got back to my car expecting a ticket, but instead my meter was full. Someone returned the favor. MMT

Today, I read an MMT story about a 40-year-old man jumping on the back of a shopping cart and taking a ride across the parking lot. It inspired me. So this afternoon, after I went shopping, that man was me! MMT

Today, I married the computer nerd I used to pick on in high school. He's the love of my life. MMT

Today, he got down on one knee and said, “Please grow old with me.” MMT

Today is our 10th wedding anniversary. I met my wife, a nurse, in the hospital after my Honda Civic was t-boned by a Ford F-150 eleven years ago. I never would have imagined that this tragic event would end up having such a positive impact on my life. MMT

Today, even though I never got to physically experience it with you, as I looked out over the ocean waves as the sun slowly set, I smiled because I somehow felt closer to you than I have in the six months since your passing. MMT

Today, I walked into a small coffee shop in downtown Dallas around lunchtime and politely asked, "May I please have a Venti Soy Latte?" The guy behind the counter smiled and prepared my latte for me. As I pulled out my money, he said, "The latte is on me. You're the first person all day to say 'please.'" MMT

Today, while running intervals in cross country practice, everyone was complaining about being exhausted. In the background, I heard one of my teammates declare just how beautiful a day it was. Everyone stopped and looked around. It was a beautiful day. MMT

Today, after dating my best friend from childhood for just over a month, I came to the conclusion that I need to break-up with him. I'm just not ready for all of this right now. But I don't want to lose him either and I don't think he'll understand. MMT

Today, at the suicide hotline center where I volunteer, someone called in and asked for me. When I answered, the person said, "Thank you!" and then hung up. MMT

Today at the airport I saw a father and two sons holding a sign that said, “WELCOME BACK FROM IRAQ MOM!” A minute later the mom walked into the terminal wearing her Army uniform and gave her family the biggest hug I’ve ever seen. Everyone in the terminal started clapping. MMT

Today, I was doing laundry in my dorm and someone's clothes were done but still sitting in the washer. I was in a hurry, so I moved them into the dryer and paid for them. When I came back an hour later to move my clothes into the dryer, someone had already put my clothes in the dryer and paid. MMT

Today, when I asked her, "What are you thinking about?" she said, "You!" I've been waiting to hear her say that for almost 10 years now. MMT

Today, a girl I taught 4 years ago during her freshman year of high school, who is now a college freshman, came into my classroom in the middle of a lesson, gave me a note, and walked back out. The note said, "Thanks for helping me figure out my future." MMT

Today, I was sitting in the window seat in row 16 of the airplane waiting for everyone else to board when a guy came up, kissed the woman sitting next to me and asked me, “Do you mind switching seats with me so I can sit next to my wife?” I said, “sure.” Turns out he was a frequent flyer and his seat was up in first class. MMT

Today I realized that I don't mind doing math, and may actually enjoy it. I spent an agonizing 4 years of high school avoiding it and practically failing all of my math classes. MMT

Today, like most days, I worked longer than I needed to just to avoid going home. MMT

Today, my younger brother received his PhD in Mathematics. When he was in grade school, he was enrolled in special education classes because he had trouble reading and writing. I know a lot of people who assumed he’d never graduate high school. MMT

Today, while I was riding the train home from NYC, I was reading the entries on this site. After awhile, I glanced up and looked at all the unique people sitting around me, and I began wondering how many of them had gone through situations similar to the ones listed here. I know everyone has a story to tell. MMT

Today in NYC, I saw a guy grab a cell phone from a table outside a restaurant and start running. I thought, "Wow he just stole that!" I continued watching him run and it turned out he was returning the phone to a girl who had forgotten it at the table. MMT

Today, as I was struggling to get up a hill in my wheelchair after visiting a friend down the block in my neighborhood, a garbage man saw me, jumped off the back of the garbage truck, jogged down the hill and pushed me all the way back up to my doorstep. MMT

Today I found out that my high school friend I'd been meaning to get in touch with for the last year died last week. MMT

Today, I was in my car at a red light on my way to drop my 7-year-old daughter off at school when a homeless man walked up to my car holding a sign that read, “I’m Hungry. Please help me.” I was about to start driving again when my daughter rolled down the back window and handed him her bagged lunch. MMT
