Today, I got lost in Manhattan. As I stood on the sidewalk trying to get someone’s attention for a little assistance, 25+ well dressed business folks blazed by me, purposely avoiding eye contact. Finally a teenager with spiked green hair and a pierced lip stopped, smiled and gave me perfect directions. MMT

Today, as I was quietly packing my lunch for work, my husband danced into the kitchen singing a made-up song consisting of only my name over and over. When he saw me, he blushed and said, "Oh, you're still here!" Sneaking a peak into the daily routine of someone who truly loves me makes me smile and MMT.

Today, I married the computer nerd I used to pick on in high school. He's the love of my life. MMT

Today, I was surprised when I showed my mom my new tattoo that says “One Life” and she actually liked it. I was even more surprised when she called me this evening to tell me that at the age of 60 she was going to return to college to complete one of her dreams. Her inspiration? My tattoo. MMT

Today, when I woke up, you were the first person I talked to. Then again tonight, just after supper, you were the last. And I don’t know if there is a heaven. But I miss you and I hope you can hear me. MMT

Today, my wife is self-conscious because she's a bit overweight after bearing our two children. But I still can't stop myself from tearing her clothes off. MMT

Today I volunteered at marathon that raises money for cancer. It was raining and cold and I just wanted to leave. Two seconds later, a lady with no hair and an oxygen mask got out of her wheelchair to walk the last steps of the race. MMT

Today I got on a bus with my grandfather. It was full with only one seat left. I told my grandfather to take it, which he refused to do, insisting I take it. After a bit I gave in and took the seat. In jest, I said "Your legs are older than mine!" "Yes," he said, "But yours have further to go." MMT

Today, I was looking out my window to the street down below. A teenage boy was walking by when suddenly my neighbor's recycle bin blew over in the wind. In an empty street, with no one to impress, that boy stopped and chased down flying newspapers until they were all back in the bin. MMT

Today, I was looking at a house to buy when I saw the owner outside staring at me with a distasteful expression on his face. I scrambled to put on a long sleeve shirt to hide my tattoos. But when I walked toward him and extended my hand, he didn't extend his. He said he was legally blind, and smiled. MMT

Today, I found out for the first time that despite constant complaints about being broke, and using what little money he gets from odd construction jobs to pay the rent, my father has been depositing $100 every month into my college fund since I was born. MMT

Today, I went out to lunch with my dad and he wanted to stop by the grocery store afterwards to get my mom flowers. “Why now?” I asked. “Why not now? If not now, then when?” he replied. MMT

Today, I was looking through the Facebook remembrance groups of two people that died from my high school. The girl was sweet, smart, quiet and unpopular. She was killed by a drunk driver. The guy was inconsiderate, rude and popular. He was the drunk driver. His group has 602 members. Hers has 48. MMT

Today I learned that my boss’s boss, the owner of the multi-million dollar software engineering firm I work for, only has a high school diploma. MMT

Today, as I was waiting for the bus, a kid I went to grade school with approached me. He was a bully when I knew him in school. He would always tease me and call me names. I was expecting him to say something rude. But instead, he smiled, hugged me and said "You look great." MMT

Today, I was sitting on a bench in the French Quarter watching bubbles float by in the breeze that a little girl down the block was blowing. At one point, an elderly man who was having trouble walking stopped in the middle of the sidewalk to pop a bubble with the end of his cane. MMT

Today, we were all so caught up in the morning rush that I forgot to kiss my dad goodbye before he left for work for the very last time. MMT

Today, at the age of 22, I found out that because of cervical complications I'll never be able to have children. For as long as I can remember, I didn't ever want kids. But now I cry every time I see a diaper commercial because I never knew I wouldn't have a choice. MMT

Today, while riding my bike down the street, I passed two women walking on the sidewalk. One had a full grown Yorkie, the other had a toddler. The toddler was on a leash and the Yorkie was being carried. MMT

Today, I was walking past a group of homeless men who live near my complex. A cab pulled up next to the men and the driver opened up the rear door and pulled out two huge grocery bags full of food. He set them down next to the group of men, got in his cab and drove off without saying a word. MMT

Today, after dating in secrecy for 8 months, I met my girlfriend's parents for the first time. They hated me instantly because I'm white. Her parents are conservative Hindus from India. They are threatening to send her back to India to stay with an Aunt. They say she dishonored her family by dating me. MMT

Today, I was recovering from a night of drinking with my best friend. We've known each other since we were 3. While we've said we consider each other to be ‘brothers’ before, last night was the first time we said we loved each other (And no, we’re not gay). MMT

Today, my old car broke down at a busy intersection. I had to push it across two lanes of traffic. The only person that bothered to help me was homeless man begging for change on the corner. MMT

Today, I was at the airport waiting for my sister when I noticed a young, white couple waiting and looking very nervous and worried. Then a well dressed woman walked past security and toward them holding an Asian baby. Both of their faces lit up instantly. And the husband said, “That’s our new baby girl!” MMT

Today my boyfriend's dog ran away and ended up at my house. But he's never brought him to my house before, and I live 5 miles away. MMT

Today, I saw a blind tourist at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.. Another tourist walked over to the blind man and said, "Do you want to know what it looks like?" and then explained to him in vivid detail exactly what the memorial looks like. MMT

Today, I lost my mom to cancer. My whole life I wanted to build an empire of wealth. And now that I’m relatively wealthy, all I want is my mom back. MMT

Today, as I sat on the front porch of our house, I saw to girls holding hands in the distance. As they walked closer I realized they were my two little sisters, ages 13 and 15. It was nice to see them openly and honestly showing affection for each other. MMT

Today, I caught a taxi downtown. I recognized the driver as my high school librarian. When I confronted him about it he admitted that he recognized me too. And all he said was, “Apparently this economy can’t afford to maintain libraries in schools... at least that’s what my termination letter said.” MMT

Today, after complaining that I haven't had a day without work, school, or other obligations for the past month, I accidentally burnt my entire arm with scalding water and had to go to the emergency room. Needless to say, I can't work or go to class tomorrow... but I wish I could. MMT

Today, after 24 long years, I have finally found my biological parents. And turns out they have been looking for me as well. I am still crying with joy. We're meeting up next weekend. MMT
