Today, my wife kissed me goodbye, got in her car, crashed, and passed away. When the coroner called me at 9AM, I broke into tears and ran into the restroom at work to wash off my face. When I looked in the mirror, I noticed that my wife’s lipstick was still on my cheek. MMT

Today, my life changed forever when I couldn’t find an available visitor parking space in the visitor parking lot and instead foolishly decided to park in the alley adjacent to the office building just so I wouldn’t be late to the job interview. MMT

Today, on my 22nd birthday, I got into the worst argument I’ve ever had with my parents. And just before I ran out their front door crying, my mother shouted, “We do believe in equality! We just don’t want you dating a black man!” MMT

Today, I slipped on ice and sprained my ankle on my walk home from work. A young man in a wheelchair witnessed the incident and insisted on helping me. I ended up sitting on his lap as he wheeled me 8 blocks down the street to my apartment. MMT

Today, after stressing out and wondering if I'm in the right profession, a 2nd grader came up to me and gave me a hug. When I asked, "What was that for?" she smiled and said, "Just 'cause I love you." She reminded me that the stress is worth it. MMT

Today at the gym I saw the chubby girl from my high school that I used to tease. She is beautiful now, and in much better shape than me. MMT

Today, for some reason the register at my local supermarket would not let my check go through. When I asked to see the manager, the cashier came to my side of the counter and swiped her own credit card. She said, "Honey, I see you in here all the time. Pay me back when you get the chance. Today, unaware that we were about to tell him that he had been diagnosed with leukemia, my little brother walked in on me and my parents crying at the kitchen table and jokingly said, "Whoa, who's dying?" MMT
