Today, as they teased me and laughed hysterically, I just wished they could see the world through my eyes. MMT

Today, after everything she’s done to me, I wish I still didn’t love her. Every day I try to convince myself that I don’t. And I’ve done a good job fooling others. All I need now is to fool myself. MMT

Today, the beautiful woman I married was once the cute little girl that held my hand at the roller skating rink in the third grade. MMT

Today, on my way into my favorite diner a homeless woman asked me for a dollar. “I don’t have any cash,” I said. “But I’d be happy to buy you breakfast.” She looked confused for a second, but then smiled and followed me inside. We sat at the bar and both ordered the breakfast special. I was a little worried at first, but she was normal. She lost her husband and her money to cancer. They had no medical insurance while he was ill. Before we finished eating, I hired her as my new office assistant. I’m also letting her stay at our corporate apartment for 6 months, rent free. MMT

Today, I met the prettiest woman on an airplane. After some small talk, and under the assumption that I wouldn't see her again after we made our connections in Atlanta, I told her how pretty I thought she was. She gave me the most sincere smile and said, “Nobody has said that to me in 10 years." It turns out we’re both in our mid-30’s, never married, no kids, and we live about 5 miles away from each other in Dallas. We have a date set for next Saturday after we return home. MMT

Today, he asked me if I would take a road trip with him just to get out of town and see something new. I said, “Yes.” I asked him where he wanted to go. He said, “It doesn’t matter to me, as long as you’re riding shotgun.” MMT

Today, I sat in class with my head down for most of the period. My teacher asked me to stay behind. I thought I was in trouble for not paying attention. Instead he said, “If you ever need someone to talk to, you know where to find me.” I intend to take him up on his offer tomorrow. MMT

Today, a man pulled up to the drive thru window and insisted on paying for the woman’s meal behind him. When I asked him why, he said, “I can see her in my review mirror and she’s crying. If I can put even the slightest smile on her face for a split second, I consider it money well spent.” MMT

Today, as I leaned in to kiss my best friend since elementary school on the cheek, she turned her head towards me at the last second and our lips connected. My heart skipped a beat. MMT

Today, as I stared at my happy, enthusiastic four year old son, I couldn’t help but wish that I could go back to knowing nothing and believing in everything the way he does. MMT

Today, my high school class voted me for ‘best smile’ in our senior yearbook. But what they don’t know is that before my father overdosed last year, he used to beat me and my mom almost every day. My home life was in completed shambles, and school was the only place I could smile. MMT

Today, at the age of 72, nearly 15 years after my grandfather passed away, my grandmother remarried. And since I’m only 17, I’ve never seen her so happy in all my life. It’s inspiring to see two people so in love at their age. MMT it’s never too late.

Today, after four straight years overseas, he returned home wearing the gold locket I gave him on the day he left. He took it off, opened it, handed it to me and said, “I wore it every day. Your smile in this photo kept me going. It was the one reason I knew I had to survive.” MMT

Today, I received a gigantic gift bag from one of my friends. She said she appreciated me being there for her, and that I am one of her best friends. She is mentally and physically handicapped, and I merely see her for half an hour once per week. MMT

Today, just before she closed her eyes, she kissed me and said, “For a moment I was scared because I thought the blood staining our clothes was not mine, but yours, and that I was holding you, not the other way around.” MMT

Today, I’m pretty sure the autistic boy I tutor after school taught me more with his honest smile and uninhibited enthusiasm than I taught him with my formal lesson plan. MMT

Today, for just a second, she forgot she was mad at me and grabbed my hand. And for just a second, I forgot to breathe. MMT
