Today, as my friends and I celebrated having class cancelled on a test day due to a power outage at our college, we walked outside to and saw the car accident that had cut off power to the campus. A minivan was smashed into a power line pole, pieces of the vehicle were everywhere, a child seat was on the ground in front of the car, etc… apparently the whole family is in critical condition. MMT

Today, I came across a Facebook page with 89 fans that’s dedicated to making fun of a kid at my school. It made me sick to my stomach. So I wrote this on the page’s wall: “Read your cruel words, and then get up and look in the mirror, all of you! And say, ‘I like torturing others! I am proud of myself!’” I just checked the Facebook page again, about 7 hours later. No one responded to my post. But the page now has 26 fans. MMT

Today, as he stormed out of the house, my 14-year-old son glared at me and screamed, “Well congratulations! Because of you, I will never be stupid enough to take even one sip… EVER!” MMT

Today, I am widely accepted and respected at school. I have a mild case of autism, and I used to get teased constantly. But then the captain of our football team, Jason, started eating lunch with me out of the blue about two years ago. My entire social life changed. This is our senior year, and he’s even invited me to every graduation party/function the popular kids attend. I know I’m not one of them, but what he did for me still MMT.

Today, I saw you in the hallway and remembered when we were still friends four years ago and you told me you wanted to kill yourself, but swore me to secrecy. Every time you glare at me, and every time I see you smiling with others, I think about how glad I am that I decided to tell someone. I hope someday you understand that. MMT

Today, the dress shirt I had planned on wearing to my roommate’s engagement party was in my gym bag in his back seat when he hydroplaned on the bridge, went through the guardrail and fell 300 feet into the river basin below. MMT

Today, my mother’s final words were the first words she had spoken to me in almost five years, since she told me she didn’t approve of my lifestyle and wanted me out of her life. She simply said, “I love you.” MMT

Today, I broke down in front of my dad, frustrated with recently coming out to my family. I began to cry and yelled, "I'm sorry I'm gay!" He grabbed my tear-filled face and said sternly, "Don't ever apologize for who you are. Who you are is who I love. And who you are is beautiful." MMT

Today, a street bum pointed out that I had dropped $40 in cash when I pulled my cell phone out of my pocket. So I decided to split it with him and handed him $20. His honesty and appreciation MMT.

Today, whoever robbed our apartment last week returned the DV video tape that was in our camcorder by leaving it in our mailbox. The tape contains the birth of our son and the final moments I spent with my dad in the hospital before he passed away last month. MMT

Today, I saw a small elderly lady trying to get on the bus. She was struggling with her cane and grocery bags. The man sitting next to me got up, walked off the bus, picked up her bags and helped her up onto the bus, never letting go of her hand. Everyone on the bus started clapping. His kindness MMT.

Today, one of my high school classmates committed suicide. Yesterday he told me he was going to do it. But I just thought he was joking. MMT

Today wasn't Christmas, at least not for me. Christmas doesn't come when you're sitting in a hospital room hoping your wife wakes up from a coma before New Years. And I'm still here waiting. MMT

Today, I found out that the woman who I thought was a young mom of the 2 twin boys I have in my 5th grade math class is actually their 24-year-old half sister. Apparently, her parents got divorced and her mom had the twins with another man. Then 4 years ago, her mom and the father of the twins died in a car wreck. The 24-year-old daughter, who was 20 at the time, took over as their legal guardian and has been raising them ever since. MMT

Today is the 20th anniversary of the day when I took my father’s pistol out of his nightstand drawer, put it to my forehead and pulled the trigger. But the safety was on. I fell to the floor in tears and put the pistol back in the drawer. Since then, I’ve recovered from my depression, graduated from high school and college, married the love of my life, started a family, and am now the proud mom to two beautiful little girls. MMT

Today, my mom is the one who keeps two jobs simultaneously after returning to the workforce after 10+ years of being a stay at home mom (while my dad collects unemployment). She has also been the main caretaker of me and my siblings for the three years that my dad left us entirely. Yet, he's trying to take 50% of everything from her in the divorce. And so far he's winning. MMT

Today, my younger brother got into a fight at school. When I asked him why, he said the other kid was making fun of his friend, Will. Will has been friends with my brother ever since they were toddlers, and has autism. My brother's courage and loyalty to his friend MMT.

Today, when I saw the little red friend request notification at the top of my laptop’s screen, the last thing I was expecting to see was a friend request from the woman who killed my parents in a DUI accident 15 years ago. MMT

Today, my mom told me that earlier my sister said 'you know she is really pretty.' And I said thank her for the compliment, but I still can't forget all the times in school when all those popular people told me otherwise. The fact that things from so long ago are still lingering in my mind MMT.

Today, after months of friendship, I laid in bed with him for the very first time, and he kissed me. But he never mentioned my scars. I still don't know why. MMT

Today after my aunt told me she was raped when she was a teenager, in a sick way, I began to feel better than I have in a long while. I finally have someone I can relate to… someone who would understand. I haven’t told her yet, but I intend to. MMT
