Today, while I was in line at an ice cream shop, this weird looking guy in front of me started talking to me. I decided to be friendly and chat back. Then he paid for his ice cream and left. A minute later, when I tried to pay for mine, the cashier said, "The guy in front of you paid for yours too." MMT

Today, I was sitting in the hospital’s hallway outside my mom’s room waiting for her to recover from her second treatment of chemo therapy. And just as I started to cry, a little girl with a completely bald head sat down next to me, held my hand, and said, “It’s going to be alright.” MMT

Today, my father’s mistress saved my mother’s life when she ran into our fire-engulfed house and pulled my mother out to safety two minutes before the roof collapsed. MMT

Today, my Calculus teacher told me about how he destroyed his iPhone. He jumped into a pool while his phone was still on him to save his two year old daughter from drowning. He saved her life, yet he talked about it as if it was completely normal. MMT

Today, I walked by a woman in business suit who was scrambling through her purse to find change for her parking meter, then she stopped and said, “Darn it!” I was feeling generous, so I reached into my purse and handed her about $3 in change to cover her meter. She smiled and handed me a $20 bill. She said, “Keep the change.” MMT

Today, when I expressed indecsion and asked him for advice, he simply said, "Do something. If it doesn't work, do something else. Nothing is crazier than doing nothing." MMT

Today, after I kissed my 5-year-old son on the cheek it looked like he wiped it off. So I asked him, “Why are you wiping off my kisses?” He giggled and replied, “I’m not! I’m rubbing them in so I can keep them all day long!” MMT

Today at my school, the homecoming king and queen were elected. The guy who won king is named Mike, and last year he was one of the popular kids. Over the summer he got into a car accident that left him mentally disabled. The whole student body stood up to cheer for him when he won. MMT

Today, I saw the cutest guy at the airport. Assuming we'd never meet again, I went over and told him how cute I thought he was. He teared up and told me he was headed home from an eating disorder clinic and "had never felt uglier." We're both from Miami, and we're meeting up this coming Saturday. MMT

Today, in the middle of a heavy rainstorm, I watched a man is a business suit take off his raincoat and put it over the shoulders of a homeless woman who was shivering as she walked down the street. MMT

Today, was one of those happy work days that occurs every now and then. Today someone sent snail mail to our office (a suicide hotline service center in San Francisco) that included a picture of a happy family of four and a post-it note that said, “Thank you!” MMT

Today, when the bullies called her a nerd for being a virgin and a straight A senior in high school, she smiled and confidently said, “Thank you. I’m really proud of it.” MMT

Today, I was on a public transit bus when a Catholic nun boarded the bus and sat right next to a Muslim. I listened to them speak peacefully about their own God and beliefs for nearly 30 minutes until I reached my stop. MMT

Today, my friend and I discovered that one parking ticket dispenser on campus gives $1 tickets for a nickel. We put $5 in nickels into the machine and spent 2 hours passing out tickets for free. Some people were so jaded that they believed our tickets were fake and refused our offer. MMT

Today, I walked for 2 hours through a bustling metropolitan area, passing thousands of people. I was wearing a "Free Hugs" t-shirt and I was only approached by one person for a free hug. MMT

Today, my electric wheelchair broke down as I was rushing across campus to take a midterm exam. Two female joggers noticed I was stuck and asked if I needed assistance. When I explained my dilemma, they both pushed me simultaneously all the way to my class and got me there just in time. MMT

Today, I realized how much happier I’ve been lately. I just got a new apartment, better hours at work, and I’m finishing up my degree after taking time off. Today, at the beach near the condo where I live, I saw a very elderly couple (likely in there mid 80's) in workout gear walking slowly but steadily down the beach. They were laughing and teasing each other about who would beat who to the pier. Elderly people like them who never give up on life and love MMT.

Today, I visited my grandpa at his retirement home. At 87, he always seems so happy. This morning I asked him, “How come I never hear you complain about your age like everyone else here?” He replied, “I have no complaints about growing old. Many folks are not fortunate enough to have the opportunity." MMT
