Today, my husband had a seizure while we were in my car stopped at an intersection. The intersection just so happened to be immediately in front of our local hospital’s emergency room entrance. The doctors told me after they stabilized him, that if we had been anywhere else, he probably wouldn’t have made it. MMT

Today, I implemented a web-based business idea I got from my girlfriend. The kickoff was a total success. She actually tried explaining this idea to me 2 years ago, but I was too busy at the time to listen. MMT

Today, someone else's tragedy provided the miracle my family had prayed for. Thanks to this stranger, my dad will have a heart. It's so odd to think that an accidental death just saved his life. MMT

Today at a rock concert, I saw a tall, mean-looking security bouncer on my way into the mosh pit. When I turned back around 20 minutes later, he was standing next to my mom and holding my 11-year-old brother on his shoulders just so my brother could see the stage. MMT

Today is my birthday. I always used to wake up on my birthday to a giant "Happy Birthday" banner from my dad strung across the kitchen ceiling. It’s been 8 years since 9/11 and 8 years since I've seen a banner. MMT

Today marks my boyfriend's first week of deployment overseas and already 2 people in his unit have died. Honestly, I don't know if i can do this for 57 more weeks. MMT

Today, while I was in line at an ice cream shop, this weird looking guy in front of me started talking to me. I decided to be friendly and chat back. Then he paid for his ice cream and left. A minute later, when I tried to pay for mine, the cashier said, "The guy in front of you paid for yours too." MMT

Today, after I walked out of psychotherapy for anorexia, a very enthusiastic woman approached me and exclaimed, "I saw you earlier and I must ask, how do you stay so thin? You're the envy of MILLIONS of women!" I broke down and kept walking, but I wish I had told her that she was already beautiful. MMT

Today, I saw a man driving with two kids in the car. One kid was in the front passenger seat and the other was sitting on the gearshift. Both children were definitely under the age of six and not wearing seat belts. The back seats were completely empty. My son died in a car accident last year. MMT

Today, my husband celebrated a healthy, happy 80th birthday. I fell in love with him when I was 21. At the time he was almost twice my age. And despite all the initial negative reactions from family and friends, here we are smiling 40 years later. MMT

Today at my school, the homecoming king and queen were elected. The guy who won king is named Mike, and last year he was one of the popular kids. Over the summer he got into a car accident that left him mentally disabled. The whole student body stood up to cheer for him when he won. MMT
