Makes Me Think - Today, a homeless man poked his head in the front door of our donut shop just before we closed for the evening. He asked for a tall glass of clean drinking water so he could share it with a friend who’s feeling “dehydrated.” I gave him two large cups of water and the 16 leftover donuts we had sitting in our display case. He was extremely grateful. And I watched as he walked outside to a homeless woman sitting out front. She smiled and gave him a huge hug. MMT

This reminds me of my mom...she told me when she was a teenager and worked at a donut shop late at night, it got to where the same homeless man would come in every night - often filthy. She'd tell him to go clean up in the bathroom, then give him the leftover donuts and overcooked coffee. Why let it go to waste? :)
