Today, my younger brother got into a fight at school. When I asked him why, he said the other kid was making fun of his friend, Will. Will has been friends with my brother ever since they were toddlers, and has autism. My brother's courage and loyalty to his friend MMT.

I like what you're younger brother stood for, but sadly he is born in the wrong day and age. In this liberal country they want us to "turn the other cheek" or "ignore the insulter". If he does the RIGHT thing and shows the jerk who his daddy is the left wingers define it as assault and when he's older he can go to jail. This is why republicans are RIGHT WINGERS, because we are RIGHT.

Though I can understand why your brother did that, picking a fight isn't how you should deal with things like that. I'm not saying that he shouldn't stand up for his friend, just that starting fights is unnecessarily violent and it won't suddenly make whoever did it think something like, "Wow, I should never pick on him again." Self-defence is another story but from the way this appears, your brother assaulted the bully and you should not be praising him for that because it was the WRONG thing to do. It is NEVER okay to assault someone for insulting or making fun of your friend even if you just want to make them back off because it will not help. A witty insult or even pretending they aren't there would have been better than recklessly attacking someone because all that does is ensure that he also gets in trouble. Tell him to next time tell a teacher because they actually have the skills required to deal with bullies properly and if necessary, can suspend or even expel (these may not seem like punishments, but parents go nuts when these things happen) the bully depending on how much it escalates.

Your brother should not be commended for starting a fight because his friend was being picked on. That's sickening. I imagine he'll grow up to be a bit of a problem for you. Watch out, OP.

Guys, my brother is 9 years old. The fight consisted of him telling the bully to knock it off and he pushed him. That's it. He never "assaulted" someone, or anything of that nature. He's just a little kid- standing up for his friend. Calm down.

Is Chevyfan suggesting that only Democrats and Non-Republicans are the ones that get into fights? Republicans bring guns. This little boy just shoved a bully. And while I agree that bullying a bully doesn't do anything - NEITHER DOES SITTING AROUND DOING NOTHING. Our whole system is so ass backwards it's not even funny. Kid gets bullied; goes to tell the teacher. Gets bullied more. What if he had told his parents instead? Parents call school, who is annoyed with having to correspond with parents. Possibly they get the bully's family in - probably not. Kid still gets bullied more. Kid says, "Hey that's not nice, please stop." Gets laughed at. Still bullied. Other kid says, "Hey, you're a dick. Stop." Bully laughs, says thank you, and bullies more. Kid finally gets fed up and hits bully - suddenly everyone is up in arms about how kid should have handled it differently. Handled it like an adult. Have you seen adults 'fight'? It's worse than their children. because they have bigger vocabularies and bigger muscles. Oh, yeah. They can own guns, too. So. Please. Tell me. What should this poor kid have done? Let his autistic friend get picked on while no adults are helping either of them? Bravo to your little brother, even if violence is not the answer.
