Today, I smiled as a boy who was about 6 held the door open for my whole family as we were walking into an ice cream shop in the city. I've been on vacation here for a week, and that was one of the few blatant acts of kindness I have seen during my time here. This isn't a life changing story, but it made me smile. It's a small reminder that that chivalry is not dead. MMT

Shut the fuck up about chivalry not being dead. It's never been dead. It never will be dead.

The ending is just a little off-putting for me. Would you have appreciated the gesture less if the 6-year old was a girl?

I agree with xlogan. Chivalry doesn't have anything to do with showing someone a nice gesture. Maybe if it were a sixteen year old boy holding the door open for an older woman. Something more gender specific.
