Today, a man came in to apply at my restaurant. He seemed charismatic, kind, knowledgeable, and friendly. Later, when I went to call him to extend a job offer, I noticed he had written "ask for me" under his number. The number belongs to a homeless shelter. But I’m gonna take a risk and hire him anyways. Often, they are people who simply need a chance to escape from their current situation. Thank you for giving this man a chance.

what makes me think is that you say 'im going to take a risk and hire him'. why is it a risk to hire a person who lives in a homeless shelter??? i've lived in several shelters in my short 25 years. I've worked since i was 14 doing administrative work. I've never been fired from a job. still a risk?

i think there exists the stereotype that homeless people are homeless because they are shifty, unreliable, drug-addicted, etc. For something so ingrained in the mind, it can feel like a huge risk to hire someone homeless. But i think it's wonderful.

Good for you-we all deserve a chance and clearly he is trying to better himself but needs the help of someone like yourself todo so-not to mention his attitude made him stand out. There are so many people who try and apply for jobs that are total pills-good for you.
