Today, I exchanged black eyes with a bully at school after I told him to “Piss off!” when he and his obnoxious friends started picking on a freshman with autistic disabilities. And despite getting a week of afternoon detention and an earful from my mother, I would do it again in a heartbeat. MMT

Wow that's amazing. It's not fair you got detention for that!

Your my hero. My boyfriend's autistic and hearing these kinds of stories just make my heart swell. You're a great guy!

Also you're*

I agree, #1, why does his school have a problem with people getting punched in the face?

I'm glad there are people like you in the world :)

I admire your spirit and detest that your school, and appraently your mother, did othing to follow up on the fact that a person with autistic difficulties is being bullied! If the school does nothing about the bullying, then they condone it! However, it would be better, in my professional and personal opinion, if you were able to engage the bully in a conversation that helped him to think about his attitude and his behaviour. I know it's difficult to do that because I coach people in how to deal with 'isms' and 'ists'. Also, however justified you may feel, if you react to violence with violence, you confirm the bullies in their conviction that violence is OK. And some might say that physical assault is worse than verbal abuse. So, although I believe you are a decent, caring and courageous human being, I also think some people will judge you by your actions rather than your decency. Go well

true that! sweet job man.

You are my favorite person of the week!

you shouldn't have gotten detention for that. you did a great thing.

I signed up just to comment on this. If only there really were more willing to stand up for the weaker person like that. People don't realize that even if they're not as strong as the bully picking on someone, they're likely stronger than the one being picked on.

Thank you so much. As the brother of a mildly autistic sibling this means so much to me.

Thank you.

I applaud you. In elementary school my best friend stuttered and I stood up to a bully picking on him and got a bloody nose for it.

We need more people like you in the world. This is truely inspiring.

Violence solves everything!

You're awesome. Needs to be more people like you in this world.
