How could she afford to open her own business on the wages of a store clerk?

Well my guess is that she probably saved and took out some loans. But I guess she also had Chemo to deal with to. She is strong.

More than half of all bankruptcies are the direct result of medical debt. I understand racing against the clock but your mom sure cut it close.
