That's good though!!! Not only to have such determination but, often people are blessed with more time than they originally thought. My dad was given 2 yrs to live....6 years later he died. I'll miss him forever but I'll never forget a day we spent together, enoy it!
This does make me think, mostly because I'm not sure if that was the best decision or the one I'd make for myself. Education is such a committment and a financial burden - would it be fair to leave your debt to your family in addition to medical and funeral costs? What about the walk you could have taken, the movie you could have seen, the dinner with family you missed because you were studying? There's so much life to experience even with a gift of more time.
In a way I agree with lichen. That would not be the choice I would make if diagnosed with terminal illness, but in another way, this was what he wanted and that's what life is about.
you shouldnt have told him that he'd "never be able to use it." many people are diagnosed, given a deadline and live years after that. I hope your brother will be one of those people.
