Today, I finally met my 8-year-old son’s new best friend from school, Kyle. For the last month, all I’ve heard about is how wonderful he is, and how they did this together and laughed about that. When I met Kyle this afternoon, I immediately realized he was missing an arm. But my son never once mentioned it. MMT

I used to have a friend with one arm. It was something that eventually you just forgot because he was able to do just about everything a "normal" person would be able to.

My brother lost his arm a couple of years ago in a car accident and whenever we leave the house kids will stare at him and ask their parents why he's weird. I understand they just don't get it. But you should be proud of yourself and for your son for him to have the mind set that something like that wouldn't change a person.
