Congratulations! I hope you feel better and can enjoy eating again, I know it's not easy at all.

Congratulations, honey! That is such a huge step. You WILL recover from this disease. I have faith in you.

Crazy as it sounds COOKING helped me through recovery. It started young so I was used to other people controlling my food, what was bought at the grocery store, what was prepared for dinner. I was removed from the process beyond mastication. Your local bookstore probably has a lot of vegetarian and vegan cookbooks in the bargain section. I tried exotic produce and even regular produce I never had before - like leeks! Nearly every vegetable will be delicious tossed in a teaspoon of olive oil and oven-roasted. I made vingarettes from lemon juice, dried mustard, and minced onion instead of agonizing over the amount of sugar in low-fat dressings. Like for breakfast, I can fix myself an egg white omelette with peppers. I don't have to worry about Pop Tarts, waffles and syrup, powdered doughnuts because I don't keep those in my pantry. My nutritionist is happy because I meet all my calorie goals eating super healthy. I don't worry if I overindulge once in awhile because I know it's healthy food. I also distract myself by growing vegetables! I live in an apartment but I can grow Japanese eggplant in a large container. Do you miss cereal? There's a really great customizable cereal company called Me & Goji. Don't waste money on simple ingredients you can add yourself like cinnamon or flaxseed, but they offer lots of dried fruits like red currants and goldenberries. If you're on Facebook join the Raw Vegan Recipe Exchange page. Eating is fun again. Food isn't self punishment anymore.

Eating breakfast is how I started eating again too...it made me sick for a while, but it's been over a year since I've purposely skipped a meal =] It's hard, but you'll make it! And being healthy is worth it. Best of luck!

I'm recovering too. Never give up! It gets really hard but just remember to take steps in the right direction! And reach out to the people around you.

an ex-girlfriend and now best friend is going through her recovery right now... congratulations!! and best wishes. you will be in our prayers.
