Cool story. Except that it's bullshit. After high school there is 8 years of college, 4 years of med school, at least a year interning, and then MAYBE they would be a doctor. In short, you can't be a doctor 12 years out of highschool.
ouis541- Why so negative? Depending on which country you are in, it is quite possible to be practicing within 12 years of high school graduation. In Canada there are typically 4 years of university, 4 years of medical school, then residency. A resident could easily have been involved in a surgery, and many medical trainees are capable of saving lives.
I think this is wonderful.
As a medical student myself, it's 6 years of med school here, 2 years of internship, and x numbers of year for residency/specialization. I recently met a doctor who entered med school in 1999, and is already specialized in Family Medicine. The story seems entirely plausible, as residency for cardiac surgery is around 4-5 years in most parts of the world.
