Today, after severely injuring my back, losing my job because of it, being evicted from our apartment, moving in with my wife’s parents, nursing my 6 year old through a nearly fatal case of strep throat, I was sitting on the front porch feeling sorry for myself when one of my close friends called me crying and said, “Mel-Mel-Mellissa, my baby girl, just died in a car wreck.” And suddenly I felt like the lucky one. Was this in Ontario? If not it would be uncanny how my neighbour just suffered the loss of her 11 year old daughter in a car accident.

Okay, someone else is worse off than you but you are going through a tough time yourself. Be gentle on yourself. You don't need the extra pressure.

my baby sister got rear-ended on the highway her first time driving home from university. the car was totalled but all the girls were fine, but she was really freaked out. Your story really MMT and makes me feel so blessed. i just texted her saying "i love you".
