"attempted murder" can mean a lot of things though... that could have just been a schoolyard fight which a lawyer put a bad spin on. my friend's brother is locked up for life because of a bar fight, she was so upset when she found out.

Perhaps he did try to kill someone as a juvenile, but your birth changed his life.
