You don't just become asexual either.. perhaps celibate.
I think the wording was bad, so I'll give the OP the benefit of the doubt. OP probably means that her sister doesn't trust men anymore and seeks out relationships with women only.
Maybe she doesn't distrust/hate men. Maybe she gave one a chance while she tried to figure herself out but the guy assaulted her. Now people hate her for loving women as if that's always the ideal pairing. Irony, at least according to our modern redefinition. Maybe she's a bisexual who made a choice, maybe she's always loved women. The rape is irrevelant because sexual abuse has long been debunked for influencing orientation, and also so common you'd see a lot more sexual confusion if that were the case.
