Makes Me Think - Today, my best friend and I have very different parents. My father spent the first 5 years of my life serving a prison sentence for grand theft. My friend’s father is a police chief. My mom struggled on food stamps, stuck by my father’s side until he was released from prison, and now they’re still together, in love, and co-owners of a popular neighborhood bakery. My friend’s parents both had prestigious jobs in comparison, divorced when my friend and I were 12-years-old, and have been relatively miserable ever since. MMT
