Good for her. And good for you for recognizing this behavior as exceptional. This should make us think, and what we should think is that no one deserves to be abused. It is unacceptable and should never be tolerated. It sounds like this person is no longer tolerating it. Thank you (OP) for noticing and commenting. It brings light to a situation that is often left in the shadows of fear and not talked about. You did a good thing today.
Sadly, sometimes the biggest obstacle to change is our reliance on others' perception of us for our self-image... as the other poster said, good for her. It takes a lot of chutzpah to grow yourself in an otherwise debilitating scenario.
