i feel the same exact way!! He's Indian and im Catholic and I dont think we will ever become "official"
If you love each other that much then just go with it. I'd rather be with the one I love and be shunned for being rebellious than be miserable all my life.
The only problem is that sometimes the cultural barriers are such that one of those people will never get to talk to their family again if they choose to be with that other person. It sucks, but it's true.
What country do you live in? In america no one cares who's gay.
Actually, something similar happened with my uncle. His family is strictly Jewish, and when they found out he was planning to marry my aunt (a Methodist) they said if he did that he would no longer be welcome in their home. He did a lot of soul-searching, and ended up marrying her.
Don't know if this is at all similar to your situation, OP, but I hope one way or another things work out for the best.
