- If your story isn't published on our homepage, please don't feel offended. We love reading all of your submissions, but we can't possibly publish them all. Note: If your MMT story gives us something to think about, it will be published.
If god or any incarnation of the divine actually exists, you know it's bigger than any man-made religion. Don't allow current mythology to restrict the only life you'll ever have. Be a good and honest person, and hopefully your parents will support whoever it is you've figured yourself out to be.
I agree with lichen. The Bible promises Joy in the life to come AND this life. I left Mom's church because there was nothing in it for me. Yet there was this voice in the back of my head indicating that there WAS something to religion. It's hard to quiet your mind for direction, but it can reveal the TRUTH about God and the real you.
I very much wish you success.
Religions don't want you to be yourself. They just want you to be slaves to their churches and give them your hard earned money. I went to a private catholic school for 7 years and found it all a big joke. They just want robots that breed more to add to their church. You made the right decision. Good luck in your endeavors.
Congratulations on a life changing realisation. I hope that this won't cause too much friction between you and your parents, because now you can finally you can find a belief that you're comfortable with :)
I have to agree with nursemiranda here.
I went to Catholic School (Most of grammar and all of high school) for 10 years and the only thing they worry about is brainwashing you with their religion, even if that means making no sense.
I'm glad I got out of there.

Is this a gay thing? I'm Christian, I think God made all of us bisexual. Some parts of the Bible are metaphorical, well obviously, so don't listen to the Pat Robertsons and Jerry Falwells who want your mind and your money.
WOW. Me too devonss. Although it was more my church that implied I should change. Now I don't know anymore, it feels like I can't be Christian anymore. I can't be both.. can I?
Religion is to help you become the whole spectacular person God created you to be. He created only one of you and he gave you unique and special talents. We spend our lifetime growing these talents by developing in virtue. The Church can help us do that. Some believe religion is restrictive, but truly it is freeing. It frees you from the shackles of vice so that you can realize your unique potential. Sin causes you to sink, while living in Christ cause you to expand to a greater good. There is no end to the possibilities...with God. Donâ
I really hope that a good friend of mine might figure this out as well. He almost gave up on his dream because of his parents view of religion and their inability to understand why he loves his dream. He is incredible and he could really become one of the greats. I know I have faith in him I just wish that his parents could see it as well.
This story honestly made me cry. My fiance, the love of my life, grew up in a very strict Jehovah's Witness family. When she came out of the closet to them, their first response was to force her to withdraw from the college we attend, which is a liberal arts women's college. She fought her way back, but now they're telling her that her depression stems from the fact that she's a fa**ot and she knows that she's going against God; that it's her soul "crying from the weight of her sin". It's terrible. She hates going home, can't tell her family anything true about her life, and plans on completely shutting them out once she graduates. She doesn't want to tell her mom she's engaged, she doesn't want her at the wedding, she doesn't even want her to ever meet her future grandkids. It's horrible, and it keeps her awake every night. She literally has to choose between who she is and her religious family.
Congratulations on freeing yourself from the Matrix. I'm sure it must have been difficult to come to that realization, but trust me, it's much better to think for yourself.

@ im4life4ever, religion frees you from reality and personal responsibility by feeding you lies about destiny. I noticed with my friends learning more about history and other religions and realizing all the contradictions and propaganda and general unhelpfulness, they struggled that abandoning their religion is the same as giving up on God. You don't have to do both. Find another faith that reaffirms the best version of yourself if you want.
