Today, I overheard my wife tell my 11 year old daughter that I wouldn’t be home for supper. To which my daughter replied, “The more successful daddy is at work, the less time he seems to spend with us at home.” MMT

This is exactly how I grew up, my dad was always at work. I feel for you and your daughter. Hopefully, he will catch on before she grows up and leaves for college, which my dad never did.

My father wasn't around much when my brothers and I were younger either. I resented him for it for a long time. It wasn't until recently that I realized if he hadn't been working so much when we were younger, we would not have the things we have today, including college educations and strong work ethic. I'm sure it must be just as difficult for you to be away from your family as it is for them to be away from you. I admire your ability to work hard and support your family even though it means you see less of them.

Isn't this an argument for a fair gender division of domestic and income burden? http://practical-vision.blogspot.com/2009/03/we-are-losing-america-right-before-our.html

This sounds like it came from someone younger then 11. But nontheless, she gmh. :) I wish you the best!
