Today, after 22 years of constant abuse, I ended our relationship once and for all. And although I know I made the right decision, at times I’m still going to miss my father. MMT

This is almost word-for-word from one of this week's Post Secrets. It was just changed from 32 years to 22 & mother to father.

I agree- same one as post secret just about. I am sure many people have the same issue- but it is odd that those two would show up at the same time. Maybe it is a coincidence though, we will never know.

Maybe instead of criticizing the statement you should think about it. This post is something many of us can relate to, and it MMT.

Who are these apologists cropping up all the time to defend stolen/altered stories and the ones obviously made up (like being inconsistent with medical information)? I thought about this when I read it on PostSecret. I think about the people who get stolen stories published and wonder what the ones that don't might say. I think about the people simple-minded enough to just want to sit around talking about feelings and never really think about anything. Huh.

I wasn't criticising the sentiment. I was making a statement about the fact that someone has plagiarised this MMT from the original Post Secret -- the wording is too similar to be anything but. That is unforgivable.

No.... Abusing your child is unforgivable. Posting a story that appeared elsewhere so that it may reach a wider audience and therefore make more people think is not.

1. Perhaps it is plagiarized or perhaps someone was inspired by PS to share on MMT. 2. I'm intrigued that I'm not the only one who reads Post Secret and MMT. Good Luck Bee

I think you do not understand copyright law.

Since you all read PostSecret, you should know the last postcard (every heart is a revolutionary cell) was taken from graffiti in a German film, "The Edukators." Daniel Bruhl from Goodbye Lenin and a bit part in Inglorious bastards and Julia Jentsch from Sophie Scholl play the leads. I don't know too many people who've seen it, but it's been a favorite of mine for years.

lo1337a: I think you do not understand Copyright law; how can an anonymous piece of art be subject to Copyright?

#10 are you stupid or just a contrarian? PostSecret gets into trouble all the time when anonymous submitters use licensed images. Like Disney characters.

"By submitting information to PostSecret, you grant PostSecret a perpetual, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, publish, distribute, and otherwise exercise all copyright and publicity rights with respect to that information at its sole discretion, including storing it on PostSecret servers and incorporating it in other works in any media now known or later developed including without limitation published books. If you do not wish to grant PostSecret these rights, it is suggested that you do not submit information to this website. PostSecret reserves the right to select, edit and arrange submissions, and to remove information from the PostSecret website at any time at its sole discretion. No image from this site may be used for any purpose without expressed written authorization, with one exception; you may post one image as a link to this site." That is how an anonymous submission can be subject to copyright law, ohgr8.

I'm 21 and unfortunately making the same decision. I know that it's not just about me anymore but also for my future children. I don't want him to be close enough to hurt them the way he has hurt me.

Whether it was stolen or not, this passage is exactly what I am battling with at the moment. It helps to know there are other people who have to choose between their family and saving themselves. And it also helps to know that they don't hate themselves when they choose to live.
