Today, as my mom and I were crossing the road at a busy intersection, a drunk driver ran the red light heading straight for us. And just as I saw my whole life flash before my eyes, a car driving the other way through the intersection t-boned the car at the last second and prevented it from hitting us. MMT

Why is this sad?

Because the driver got in an accident in order to save their lives.

I don't think that is sad. The person who T-boned the drunk driver may have done it on purpose, which is admirable (yet not sad), but they more likely just drove into the intersection because they had a green light. Either way, the only way this would be sad is if that driver had died. Logically, they probably didn't since they were in an area with traffic lights and pedestrians, meaning they likely would not have been driving fast enough to be injured severly enough to die. In this situation, I'd be grateful (which the poster is, by the looks of the name). It doesn't matter though, I was just wondering why the poster considered it sad.

Just for the record, the post never said it was sad, just because it makes you think doesn't mean it has to be sad.
