Today, when I finally found the courage to divorce him after decades of abuse, I found myself feeling alone because our mutual friends and most of our religious family members believed his lies instead of my bruises and my depression. MMT

I am so sorry for this occurrence. I believe you, and I know for a fact that someone else does too.:)

Please hang in there, I believe you. Be yourself, and find others who appreciate you for who you are. If they don't believe you, don't bother with them, the real purpose of life is just being true to yourself, doing what's best for you, and finding those that appreciate you for doing that.

Keep strong you did the right thing even if most don't agree don't let that get to you be free you took your first major step towards happiness now continue on tat road I know it seems hard somehow because you feel like your decision is not supported but soon things will get better(: congratulations on getting out of that abusive relationships and even if I don't know you I'm proud of you for making the choice most women won't make

Be strong. You were strong to get out, keep going. Abusers are good at convincing other people of their lies. You know you needed to get out, and why. Some people will be more comfortable believing his lies -- as if they accept that he is an abuser, then they have been complicit... So do not look to your disappointment in them, look to nurturing yourself, and leaving behind those who do not foster that. Your whole world can open up to people who do care about you, when you start really believing in yourself and looking to your future. You are free -- enjoy it!
