yeah... you shouldn't hold your self responsible.. but there is something wrogn with you too. you should always take it seriously if someone says something like that. don't play it off as a joke. you don't know what is going on in his life or what his thoughts are so treat it seriously.

something really similar happened to me. one of my coworkers made a flippant comment about killing herself to me at the end of a shift. I thought she was kidding, but the next morning she didn't come into work. I freaked out, and it turned out that she did attempt to commit suicide, but didn't succeed. After that I decided to never to assume a comment like that wasn't serious. You definitely shouldn't blame yourself for what happened, but if anything like it happens again make sure your do something about it

Same thing happened to me about 4 years ago. I knew a guy that needed help, but everyone else was telling me not to tell anyone but I should've. The best advice has already been told: don't hold yourself responsible.

ampmfriend, there is nothing wrong with him. it is not HIS fault that his classmate killed HIMSELF. please do not hold yourself responsible to this.
