Sorry to hear that. Everything happens for a reason.
No, everything does not really 'happen for a reason'. It just happens. That's so awful, I'm sorry.
All I can say is, no matter how much this upsets you, do not ever blame yourself for it. I also believe everything happens for a reason But I also believe that everyone has a certain day at a certain time that they are supposed to pass away. No matter where they are, no matter what they do, no matter any last minute plan changes that occur, if it is their time, it is going to happen. He could have decided not to meet you again, and where ever else he would have decided to go, fate would have had its way.
Why do people always say that when someone dies? It's really just cold comfort if you ask me. The world is open to you, with no omnipotent force working against you or for you.
"It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out of your door," he used to say. 'You step into the Road, and if you don't keep your feet, there is no knowing where you might be swept off to.'"
Some people believe in God, and some do not.
I do not.
Therefore I believe in fate, and destiny. I do not go around implying that their belief in God is foolish, nor do I turn down their words of comfort, because I know it was what they believe, and it is what they think is going to help me. Even if I do not believe it, I find it comforting that they care enough to try.
I believe in God, I do not think things happen for a reason beyond normal consequences. This was a tragedy. Because you met him the day he died it was a coincidence too. Was there a reason he died? Did he run a red light? Did another driver cause an accident? So many hypotheticals. God has given us love and intelligence to look out for one another in our world. Nobody is destined to die young or suffer painfully and die old. Nothing happens for a reason, but what happens has meaning. Meaning you give it.
If "everything happens for a reason" and we all have a set and definite time that we will die, then we don't have any free will. If a young girl is murdered, and that death was always set in stone, then the murderer couldn't do anything to stop killing her, because he was destined to do it. Which basically means he had no control over it. That also means that murder is never preventable because it is always that persons time to die. Everything is coincidental.
I know it wouldn't make a difference if I said "I'm sorry for your loss," truthfull I am because I know how it feels like. I've been in your shoes.
