It could be any kind of abuse, emotional, physical not limited to sexual. It could also be because of her mother's views, eg she could be racist, homophobic, a drug abuser, a welfare cheat, or many other things that don't necessarily equate to sexual abuse. Your wild assumption wasn't necessary.

Especially cause it says daughter and the mom pretends she doesn't know I think it's about sex abuse too. My grandparents are racists but I'd leave a kid with them. I doubt they'd start smacking her around over nothing too.

I wouldn't necessarily jump to the conclusion of sexual abuse either... My father uses drugs, and drinks on a daily basis. In fact, he was high on something during most of my childhood. One day, I know he'll offer to babysit my kids, or want to spend unsupervised time with them, and at the moment, I believe I'll most likely say 'no'. And I know, he will be incredibly confused - and eventually upset - with me.
