I know how bad he's hurting because I've been there so many times in my life with my dad. He was a drug addict, and eventually became a dealer. After he got out of prison his abuse and neglect never stopped, and it wasn't until I was 17 that I realized I was a stronger person because of it and that I didn't need him.
Your son is in my prayers, and I hope that when he gets older he takes these incidents as a reason to be stronger, and not an excuse to make more hardships for his life (as many people with 'daddy issues' do). Let him know that it's not his fault, and don't let his father hold him back!
