Today your friend died a true hero and because of them a child has his innocence and more years to live.
Actually, that child will have learned an important lesson VERY early on in life. And maybe the parents will pay closer attention to her or him, having their child at the cost of another set of parents losing theirs. Let's hope this toddler grows up to something respect because let's be honest, most of us are average, some of us are lazy, some of us are mean or ignorant, etc. Hopefully your friend didn't die in vain.
This reminds me of a character in Mitch Albom's book, "The Five People You Meet in Heaven."
The first person the main character Eddie meets in Heaven is a man who swerved to avoid him at a young age and ended up dying.
The character explained how him and Eddie never met he still had a huge impact on him.
Your friend may have died, but will no doubt be a major part of this child's life whether the child knows it or not.
