Trust me, once you say yes, its hard to say no; I sympathize with your brother. This makes me wonder, why society wont let you do what you want, even if its harming no one else.
Argh. This is so sad, and does MMT.
not. even. once.
It's easy to say 'no' the first time, but probably harder after you've ever said 'yes'. Don't be ignorant, babendreier, fewer health risks for using pot than alcohol doesn't mean we should decriminalize harder substances like heroin. Did you know that opium production has actually increased in the occupied regions of Afghanistan? Did you know Mexico is actually the most dangerous country for journalists because of their out of control drug trade? Follow the trail of your casual use and I assure you, most drugs hurt someone else.
eliza,
i know you wrote this in september, i got a call from my mother saying that my brother ended up in jail over drugs for the 3rd time. i was so angry, so sad, so just furious that he couldn't just say no, that i stopped talking to him for a long time. he refuses to speak to me anymore. i read this today, in may, and just burst into tears.
my name is elizabeth, too. it's reassuring now that i'm not the only one.
babendreir,
it's not "not harming anyone else." it kills me to watch my brother do that. my father passed away, i moved to college, and left my brother alone with my mother, where, 3 months after my father died, he was arrested and put into rehab. just because he didn't decrease my physical health, he's certainly taken a toll on both my mother and i's mental health...
