err...why did he cut his finger off exactly? I don't understand why someone would do that.

Its a religious thing a believe, Catholic if I remember correctly. If you harm someone you are supposed to cut off the trigger finger. I could be wrong though...

Not so much catholic as fundamentalist; but I don´t think that was the point of the entry.

I think that its because that was his trigger finger, and he wanted to get rid of it so he couldn't ever fire a gun. And that most definitely made me think.
